7 Indian Engineers Seized by Taliban in Afghanistan

Seven Indian engineers were seized by Taliban gunmen in Baghlan province,north of Afghanistan.Thereports said that the gunmen mistook them for the government employees.the external affairs ministry in New Delhi is seeking the details of the incident.

The seven Indian nationals,who were electrical engineers,working for Maharashtra-based company KEC.KEC, a global infrastructure engineering, procurement and construction major, is one of the largest Indian companies in Afghanistan.They were abducted while they were travelling to the area where KEC has a contract to operate an electricity sub-statio.

Baghlan governor Abdulhai Nemati said the Taliban group took the engineers hostage and moved them to the Dand-e-Shahabuddin area of Pul-e-Khumri city.

However,no group has claimed the responsibility for the abduction.
